Ethernet-, |
Because of extremly increasing data sets previous network technologies were
led to their efficiency limits.
There are two attempts at solving this bandwith problem:
1. Convert the entire network-infrastructure to high-speed technologies like
fast ethernet, gigabit ethernet, FDDI or ATM, what would mean very high expenses.
2. The use of switching technology with high-speed ports. This solution provides
a fine segmenting of your network. Contrary to conventional hubs, where all
ports share 10 Mbit, a switch provides the complete bandwith of 10 Mbit for
every port (per port).
